Which theme? If you want a Ken Burns move on all or most of the photos in a slide show project, choose Ken Burns. iPhoto adds a move to each photo; you can customize the move or turn it off for those photos that you want to appear static. On the other hand, if you want to add the Ken Burns effect to only some photos, choose Classic, then add Ken to those photos that need to move.

No Ken do. To turn off a Ken Burns move for a photo, display that photo in the slide show editor, summon the Slideshow Settings pane, and then uncheck the Ken Burns box.

Zooming without moving. You want to show just part of a photo in a slide show, but you don’t want to crop the photo, because that changes its appearance throughout your library. Solution: Make the photo’s start and end positions the same.
