16. Wide-Eyed Wonder

Sophia races down the path to Rincon Beach. I was running next to her and trying to keep up. When kids are excited, they move fast and it’s great to capture all that energy in a single frame.

Children like to run, push, poke, prod, jump, and play. They embody a sense of adventure, exploration, and joy. Kids haven’t learned the subtleties of self-control or diplomacy. They are raw, honest creatures who approach the world with wide eyes and wonder. They wiggle and giggle and their imagination isn’t something they restrict with a leash. For them real and pretend are one and the same.
