Chapter One. Tools & Techniques > Shoot More Than You Need

Shoot More Than You Need

There’s a lot of debate going on about just how many images you need when working with an HDR file—three, five, seven, or nine. The best way to handle this is to think, “When is the next time I’ll be standing before this moment again?” If your answer is “Probably not anytime soon,” then shoot as many as you can. The usual counterpoint to this is “Shooting nine frames wastes space and takes longer.” My answer? Don’t shoot the same scene so many times, and you’ll be fine.
