Focusing on the “One”

After spending time connecting with each family member, the time comes to showcase each of them in the grouping of “one.” I refer to family as a “one” because there is something beautiful in showcasing how a group of individuals can come together to form a union and how your separate subjects become one subject. Whether you are bringing two people together or a group of 25, you still have to do the work of drawing out each individual as you show each collectively in a group. To best many understatements, I shall just say, “It ain’t easy.”

It can be exhausting to pull off a great group portrait, especially when there are young, distracted children involved. But do you know what happens when you do pull it off? People will want that image, treasure that image, show that image to everyone they know, and then order it large and in digital format, at a premium, for safekeeping. They will buy it as gift prints for family, put it on the front of their holiday card or family album, and frame it big to place it over their fireplace. They will beam at who they are, that they are actually showcased as who they are, and you will feel rewarded on many levels for creating such a thing of beauty and for achieving such results.
