Leveraging Daylight to Light Your Players

SCOTT KELBY

If you’re shooting a game during the day, try to remember to position yourself so the sun is over your shoulder while you’re shooting. That way, the players will be lit by the sun, and you’ll be able to see their facial expressions. If not, they’ll be mostly in the shadows, which is especially bad if they’re wearing batting or football helmets. You might have to shoot from the opposite side of the field (which may well be the opposing team’s side), but at the end of the day, you’ll be able to clearly see all the players, and the emotions that make up the game.
