Chapter 3. WORKING WITH LIGHT > CONTROL THE LIGHT

3.2. CONTROL THE LIGHT

A light source can initiate from many sources and directions with varying degrees of intensity. The possibilities continue because you're able to control the light by reflecting and diffusing natural and artificial light.

3.2.1. REFLECTING LIGHT

Any type of light can be reflected to produce more light. Light is being reflected around us every day. Mirrors, glass, white walls, and even white tablecloths reflect light. You can buy professional reflectors of gold, silver, and white from camera stores, but you can also use common household items to reflect light back onto your subject. A white foam-core board from an art store and a car dashboard reflector are both handy, ready-made reflectors.
