10.4. IMAGE HANDLING TIPS

Before you get started, take a look at your image and think about what steps are involved, what your general skill level is, and how much time it will take to achieve the look you want. Some tasks can take a long time, especially if you're somewhat new to image enhancement. For example, if you need to remove an element from an image, and perform major tonal surgery to bring an underexposed image back to life, the end result may not be worth it. You may want to consider working on a similar image in your batch, or simply reshooting the image under better circumstances and lighting conditions. You need to gauge the importance — not every image is going to qualify for your special enhancement techniques.
