Snow Scenes

As anyone that has heard me complain will testify, I’m not a big fan of winter. But living in Connecticut as I do, I’m stuck with it for several months a year, and so when the snow falls, I try to make an effort to photograph it. Despite all of its inconvenience, it is beautiful and I just love the way it transforms the landscape. The best snows, photographically speaking, are wet snows because the snow clings to branches (see 10-11) and outlines every tree and every twig. Unfortunately, because wet snow is the result of warmer temperatures, it doesn’t always last long (at least not in the trees), and so you have to get out quickly to shoot. Just a few minutes after I shot the photo in 10-11 the sun came out and the snow began to melt, but....
