Chapter 7: Natural Light Exposures > Lighting Direction

Lighting Direction

Thanks to the rotation of the earth on its axis and the elliptical orbit of the earth around the sun, the direction of sunlight on all earthbound subjects is in a constant state of flux. Just when you thought the morning light was so soft and pretty falling on the front of your garden, the sun starts its ascent into the afternoon sky and the light begins to come down from on high. A few hours later, the same sunlight is now hitting your garden from a low angle again, but this time it’s behind the flowers. It’s a relentless cycle that fine-tunes its angles and intensities a bit throughout the changes of the seasons, and that constantly repaints the look of the world around you. Even better, this visual variety is free for the looking.
