This is not only an EXCELLENT guide to the mind-boggling array of features on the the Canon D300s, but it's also a master class in digital SLR photography. David Busch has a vast amount or experience as a photographer and has used countless cameras in his profession - both things that he brings to this book. Some reviewers have complained of its length (and at 550 pages, it IS a monster), but it is well worth the read. I've been an advanced hobbiest/semi-professional photographer for 20+ years, and I learned many new things from this book. Discussion of menu items and settings is a given for a "manual" for a camera - and there is no lack of that aspect in this book.  But what makes this stand out are the real-world applications, stories, and advice from a highly experienced professional; things that any serious photographer finds invaluable. If you read this book all the way through, you will not only be familiar with all of the camera's functions, but will also have a depth of knowledge on digital SLR photography typically only available through a series of college courses. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
