Selecting a Shooting Mode

You can choose a shooting method from the mode dial located on the top left of the Sony Alpha SLT (see Figure 1.13). There are six special shooting modes (including two Auto modes), in some of which the camera makes many or most of the decisions for you (apart from when to press the shutter), and four semi-automatic and manual modes, which allow you to provide the maximum input over the exposure and settings the camera uses. You’ll find a complete description of the special, automatic, and semi-automatic and manual modes in Chapter 4.
