Comparison in Lighting

Even with normal hot-shoe flash units, the light can be shaped and used creatively. Since the objects are very small, the sizes of the light sources are more moderate, which is an advantage with umbrella reflectors and softboxes. It becomes apparent that the larger the area of illumination, the softer the resulting light.
