Virtual Horizon

(User’s Manual – Page 269)

Virtual horizon allows you to level your camera—left to right but not forward to back—when it’s on a tripod. It’s not for live picture-taking use. All it does is bring up an opaque Virtual horizon indicator on the Monitor.

The Live view modes have a similar version of the Virtual horizon that you can see through for live usage.

Here are the steps to use the Virtual horizon:

1. Choose Virtual horizon from the Setup Menu and scroll to the right (figure 5.26, screen 1).

2. The next two screens show the Virtual horizon indicator in action. You can use it to level the camera on your tripod in a left-to-right direction only. The Virtual horizon in screen 2 shows that the camera is level (green bar), and screen 3 shows that the camera is tilted to the left (yellow bar).
