The photographs were exhibited in a field hospital which was erected in Union Square. This put the viewer into the context in which the images of malnourished children were shot. This connection between the images and the exhibition space would have influenced viewers' reactions in a very different way than if the images had been hung on the walls of a conventional gallery.
