S > Stop - Pg. 239

S Stop 239 One stop is simply a halving or doubling of light. It is a relative, not an absolute, term and can be used in relation to shutter speed, film speed, sensitivity or aperture. Photographers use the expression `stop' when referring to changes in exposure. Stop is also shorthand for `stop bath', a mild acid used to arrest development in film and paper processing.
