T TIFF 248 TIFF stands for Tagged Image File Format, although this is no longer referenced in the current standards. It is a raster (line-by-line) image format that can support some forms of lossless compression to reduce file size. TIFF was originally produced as a format for image scanners by the desktop publishing pioneers Aldus; it is now under the control of Adobe Systems Inc, of Photoshop and Postscript fame, which merged with Aldus in 1994. The tags are header tags that contain details of the image size, its definition and image-data arrangement (i.e. whether the data is read in rows or columns). see JPEG 146
