When you are in a car or bus and it accelerates or brakes, what do you feel? Build your own acceleration gauge to demonstrate situations like these and the effects of acceleration in curves.

Supplies

  • Styrofoam ball or cork (as from a wine bottle)

  • clear glass or plastic jar with screw-on top

  • string

  • 1 pint (1/2 liter) plastic bottle with cap

  • superglue

  • epoxy putty (the kind that you can shape like clay, and that hardens)
