Enhancements to TLF text

There are a number of new enhancements to Text Layout Format (TLF) text in Flash CS5.5. These changes do not affect the steps in Lesson 8 but can be very important in projects that use TLF text. The first enhancement is that TLF text is much more efficient, especially read-only TLF text fields. When using read-only text fields in CS5.5, the additional assets required to make text interactive are not added to the compiled .swf, which result in much smaller files than would have created in Flash CS5. The performance of TLF text scrolling has also been significantly improved.

Tabs and a new tab ruler are now available for TLF text fields. When creating TLF text fields in the Flash interface, you can access the tab ruler by choosing Text > TLF Tab Ruler.
