Overview

Gary Rosenzweig's ActionScript 3.0 Game Programming University shows you how  to use ActionScript, the programming language behind Flash CS3 Professional. The lessons teach you all the basics of ActionScript programming through game examples, but the code can be easily adapted to non-game-oriented projects, such as web training and advertising. Written by a real-world Flash developer, this book presents you with the source code of 16 complete games and lays the foundation for you to create your own games. Gary also provides a companion website - flashgameu.com,  which contains files, updates, new content, Gary's blog and much more.

"Very Good for applying OOP concepts" - by Amedo1 on 11-OCT-2010

This book is very good for someone who already knows AS 3.0 theoritically because it will allow you to apply all the OOP concepts.
I was very pleased to find in these games what is the usefulness of a class, of an event listener, of the display list, why and how to work with XML files, etc.
It's true that if you want to learn  AS 3.0, this book is not for you, even if you already know AS 2.0, but if you want to apply your theoritical AS 3.0 knowledge, this book will help you a lot.
I've read a lot of books about AS 3.0 and most of them will give you just chunks of code examples. This one will give you examples of completed applications, and how to solve some programming problems specific to games.
Thanks Gary!
