Chapter 21. Scripting Apple Applications

Many of the standard Apple applications that ship with Mac OS X provide some level of AppleScript support. As you can imagine, covering every aspect of scripting every Apple application would easily fill its own book (or three), so my intention in this chapter is just to give you a solid start in scripting the five most important ones: iTunes, Mail, iCal, Address Book, and Automator.

Remember to back up your data before running potentially destructive scripts (or performing automation of any sort, for that matter). Accidents will happen, even to the most careful of scripters.
