Chapter 22. Networking > Distributed Objects

22.5. Distributed Objects

One of the most powerful parts of the foundation framework is the distributed objects system. This allows objects in different processes, possibly on different computers, to be used almost transparently.

The distributed objects system in OS X is based on NeXT’s Portable Distributed Objects (PDO) product. This provided bridges to Microsoft’s COM and to CORBA.
