Conventions Used in This Book

This book uses the following typefaces to distinguish code, computer input and output, from the text and new concepts:

• New concepts use a green font.

• Code is shown in monospace.

• Things you should type are displayed in bold monospace.

• Keys are marked for Shift, for Option, and for Command.

• The computer’s response is in shaded monospace.

• Code to be replaced appears in stricken-through monospace: Some of the examples build upon previous code, and the stricken-through code will help you locate the code to change.

• Placeholders are shown in italic monospace.
