In the previous chapter, we studied the tools for implementing programmer-defined data structures. Arrays and structures are the basic programming tools that allow the designers to express complex ideas about the application in a concise and manageable form—both for the designers themselves and also for maintenance programmers. Unions, enumerations and bit fields help the designer to represent code in the most understandable way.
