I've used many books to learn C++ and this is the easiest one to understand and follow along with. Also, all the examples are a big help. There wasn't many in C++ for dummies.

Author explains most concepts well, few he didn't understand. Also, so of the programs he wrote didn't work, like he prime one.

"Shame about the Key" - by Daithidh on 10-AUG-2011

Solid, plodding, interesting if solid and plodding are your thing; reasonable amount of hand-holding ... but. A key to the exercises would have been a wise addition. Perhaps pushing costs up, in that case, allow the key to the exercises as a download from the publisher's site. That this book has the tag without fear -- fear is not the issue, without a key to the exercises is. Lost a star, with luck a third addition might see an increment++ with such an appendix || download.
