19.4. Creating an application with Robotlegs MVCS

Now that you have a good understanding of the underlying core framework utilities, you’re ready to create your first enterprise-level application with the Robotlegs MVCS implementation. Robotlegs is equipped with this implementation as a lightly prescriptive starting point for your application. It’s a common-ground approach to building an application so that you and your team will have a solid architectural structure to build upon. Before we start building the application, let’s look at what MVCS is and how it’s represented by Robotlegs.

In an MVCS application the model stores data, the view provides a mechanism for the user to interact with, the controller responds to those actions, and the service connects the application to external resources such as a web service or local file system. Robotlegs MVCS was inspired by the structure of PureMVC with the addition of the service tier. Within the MVCS implementation are four main classes, as illustrated in table 19.3.
