BlockingVolumes

The BlockingVolume is the simplest type of volume available, because all volumes have the ability to block actors inherently. This volume acts as a collision object for your level and is not visible by default. This volume can affect players and/or weapons in the level, based on the CollisionType property, located under the Collisions tab.

An interesting question that might arise is whether it is more efficient to use a BlockingVolume over a static mesh that uses collisions. Both objects use the same code for collisions, so there is no processing benefit one way or the other. However, because static meshes are instanced throughout the scene, only one copy of the collision model for a static mesh exists in the scene. This means you can save memory by using collision-based static meshes, especially if you need to block many different locations.
