Is it possible for JavaScript programmers to learn the iPhone SDK and live to tell the tale? Technology guru Danny Goodman did, and in this book he leaves a well-marked trail for you to follow. Goodman knows the challenges you face with the SDK, so he introduces Objective-C and Cocoa Touch in a context you'll understand. If you're a JavaScript programmer and want to take advantage of the iPhone, this is the book for you.

When I read iOS for Javascript developers I expected a book about making more efficient use of web-technologies in native apps. More precisely I expected to read about glue code techniques for exposing interfaces that are not (yet) provided by frameworks like PhoneGap to javascript.
These expectations are not fulfilled by this book. Instead it is a brief introduction to the cocoa touch framework with a discussion of the limitations of the out of the box web-APIs and a comparison of selected APIs that exist in both environments.
Despite the fact that this book is very well written, the really important topics of iOS and javascript are either missing or better covered in other books of O'Reilly.
