Programming in Objective-C, Fourth Edition
Updated for iOS 5 and ARC
Programming in Objective-C is a concise, carefully written tutorial on the basics of Objective-C and object-oriented programming for Apple's iOS and Mac platforms.
The book makes no assumptions about prior experience with object-oriented programming languages or with the C language (which Objective-C is based upon). Because of this, both beginners and experienced programmers alike can use this book to quickly and effectively learn the fundamentals of Objective-C.
Readers can also learn the concepts of object-oriented programming without having to first learn all of the intricacies of the underlying C programming language. This unique approach to learning, combined with many small program examples and exercises at the end of each chapter, makes Programming in Objective-C ideally suited for either classroom use or self-study.
The fourth edition of this book has been updated to cover the significant changes that first appeared in iOS 5 and Xcode 4.2, including the use of Automatic Reference Counting (ARC) to improve and simplify memory management in Objective-C programs.

As a seasoned developer with experience with C, C++, and C#, I found this book to be a great guide in learning Objective-C.
Given how some things are structured, I think this may be bit too advanced for a novice or brand-new programmer. For those people, I would recommend they read K&R's "The C Programming Language" first to understand the underlying language.

If you are like me, and want to write native iOS apps this is a must read. In Objective-C I found the syntax a bit difficult to grasp, but with Kochan approach of assuming no prior programming experience, it starts off simple enough where I can easily grasp the syntax in contrast to prior programming experience.
His explanation of concepts make learning different features easy,
With it being up to date with iOS 5.0 this is simply a must read.
After reading this book, iOS and XCode seem so much fun.
Yet, don't take my word for it, all the programming forums recommend this book, thus, I sought it out.
Thank you, Kochan for updating the book so quickly with the new features, ARC specifically.
Respects to Steve Jobs for his vision and his spirit, who did not just make a dent in the universe, made a great splash. In our minds, in our hearts, in our tech, and in our toys, he will be with us forever.
