120 Managing projects Managing third parties on projects Not all tasks on projects will be completed by your own staff. Some activities may be completed by third parties. This can be a major component of project management and this checklist provides only very high-level guidance. 1 Identify and scope the work required by the third party. 2 Agree who will negotiate the supplier contract, and who will manage the supplier relationship in life (the procurement department or the project team?). 3 Understand any organisation standards you have to comply with for this type of contract. 4 Determine structure of contract required. Consider: Fixed price, time and materials, partnering and shared risk and reward, etc.
