Michael George is the founder and CEO of George Group Consulting based in Dallas, Texas. Established in 1987, George Group pioneered the deployment of Lean methods in the United States and created and deployed the first integrated Lean Six Sigma process. The company designs programs to meet specific operational goals of the CEO, and provides support to the client by delivering sustained improvements in operational performance and shareholder value. George Group clients include Caterpillar, ITT, GE, United Technologies, Ingersoll-Rand, Johns Manville, etc.
Prior to founding George Group, Mr. George was the founder and president of International Power Machines, a manufacturer of large uninterruptible power supplies, which protect critical computers from power failure. Mr. George took the company public in 1980 and sold it in 1984 to a division of Rolls Royce. Mr. George then visited Japan to study the Toyota Production System and in 1987 authored the popular book America Can Compete. He is also the holder of US Patents relating to cycle time reduction.
Mr. George began his career as an integrated circuit engineer at Texas Instruments. He holds a bachelors degree in physics from the University of California and a master's degree in physics from the University of Illinois.
