As the Internet rapidly becomes the primary commerce and communications medium for virtually every company and organization operating today, a growing need exists for trained individuals to manage this medium. Aptly named Webmasters, these individuals will play leading roles in driving their organizations into the next millennium.

Working with the World Organization of Webmasters (WOW), Prentice Hall PTR has developed two book series that are designed to train Webmasters to meet this challenge. These are The Foundations of Website Architecture Series and The Advanced Website Architecture Series.

The goal of The Foundations of Website Architecture Series is to provide a complete, entry-level Webmaster training curriculum. This series is designed to introduce and explain the technical, business, and content management skills that are necessary to effectively train the new Webmaster.

Books in The Foundations of Website Architecture Series include:

• Understanding Web Development

• Administrating Web Servers, Security and Maintenance

• Exploring Web Marketing and Project Management

• Creating Web Graphics, Audio and Video

The Webmaster who masters the materials in these books will be able to build and maintain static Web sites with limited database-enabled and interactive functionality; have a working knowledge of server administration, multi-media technologies, and security issues; and be able to interface with IT and content development professionals on these topics. The Webmaster will understand the basics of Web marketing and effective communication and know how to manage the creation and construction of Web sites and manage teams of professionals responsible for Web communication and have a firm understanding of the various Web technologies.

The Advanced Website Architecture Series offers more in-depth coverage of the content, business, and technical issues that challenge Webmasters. Books in this series are:

• Designing Web Interfaces, Hypertext and Multimedia

• Supporting Web Servers, Networking, Programming, and Emerging Technologies

• Exploring Electronic Commerce, Site Management, and Internet Law
