Using LinkedIn for Business Development

LinkedIn is the ideal tool for business development. If used properly, it can be a map of all the people you know in the business world—and a route to all the important people you don’t know. For the few who do not have a LinkedIn account, it is basically a business social network where “connections” are the equivalent of “friendships” on Facebook. There is virtually no personal interaction on LinkedIn; everybody has a business hat on. The goal of using the service is to meet new people who can further your business.

In my experience, there are two types of LinkedIn users: hoarders and quality users. Hoarders accept every connection they are offered, and quality users accept only people that they have a real relationship with.
