1 Introduction K aren had a problem. She was living in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, with her baby son August, but all was not well. August had never seen his father and Karen had no idea where to find him ­ and didn't even know his name. Karen had been out in Copenhagen. She had met a male tourist, ended up having a one-night stand and shortly afterwards found out she was pregnant. Karen went on to have a beautiful baby boy, but was left with an emptiness, a feeling of helplessness, that her son would never know his father.
