Chapter 19. Conducting the SAP Platform ... > RFPs, Vendor Questionnaires, and Mor...

RFPs, Vendor Questionnaires, and More

In the next few sections, we take a closer look at gathering sizing requirements through the use of vendor-specific questionnaires, the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, and conducting presizing conferences. We also review an alternative approach to sizing—allowing vendors to drive the sizing process.

Sending Out Requests for Proposal

Based on the specific current and future needs, you need to prepare a basic requirements document reflecting as much information as currently available regarding system and workload requirements. This very basic Request for Proposal process is often initiated with SAP’s QuickSizer tool, as outlined in the last chapter. With the QuickSizer, you identify as much detailed information as you can about your expected system configuration. Once finished, you are provided a QuickSizer ID that can be shared with your internal sizing review team, the overall Technical Support Organization (TSO), and prospective vendors.
