Chapter 20. the chicken and e

The world in which gen e operate is one which has experienced radical changes in a short space of time. In the rest of the book we will look at the emergent world which gen e has done so much to shape. In particular, we will look at the new world order in terms of the new economy; changes in power structures; changes in working lives and career patterns; and, finally, changes within organizations.

First, the much vaunted new economy. The skills of gen e are brought to bear in a magical commercial world where companies don't have to make profits and entrepreneurs become gazzillionaires overnight. The new economy with its explosion of entrepreneurial activity mirrors the growth of the internet and information technology. This is no coincidence. The new technology has provided a platform for pent-up entrepreneurial energy.
