The workplace is everywhere no. 5: OPOs (Other People’s Offices)

Why so few people think of this I don’t know. OPOs are THE very best really, but they only work if you have put that hard work into developing your network. I have a host of non-competing independent consultants who are only too delighted to let me borrow an office, even for a meeting with one of my clients. As long as the offices don’t look like they are about to be condemned by a building surveyor, they can help to enhance a client relationship. The client realises that you ‘know’ people and this is usually deemed to be a ‘good thing’. Similarly, your kind friend who has loaned you a meeting room or whatever hopefully thinks that this may be an opportunity for them too. Free office coffee never tasted so good!
