Scott Ambler has been working on Agile methodologies since about the time the agile manifesto was published. He was chief methodologist at IBM/Rational during the period that IBM/Rational defined their "agile@scale" approach.

Many organisations struggle to evolve their own way of scaling agile, often by modifying xp or scrum. But other agile methodologies already address issues of larger scale agile, notably the Unified Process derived approaches openUP and agileUP. Beyond that, Ambler & Lines identify the scaling factors you need to consider; not only team size but also geographic distribution and factors relating to risk, governance and complexity.

The book is straightforward and logical. If you must co-ordinate more than one agile team, it represents the authoritative guide on the issues you face and how to address them.

Essentially it's agile, explained in bits of XP, SCRUM, Lean, Unified Process, and SDLC.  It's another attempt to fit agile into enterprise.
