In this chapter I described the ScrumMaster role. I emphasized the ScrumMaster responsibilities as coach, servant leader, process authority, interference shield, impediment remover, and change agent. I then discussed how the ScrumMaster should be knowledgeable about Scrum, ask great questions, patiently wait for the team to solve its problems, collaborate with everyone, protect the team from undue interference, and communicate in a visible and transparent way. Next I described how the ScrumMaster’s time is allocated across a sprint to provide a deeper appreciation for this critical role.
