Roger T. Burlton is the founder of the Process Renewal Group and President of the Process Renewal Consulting Group, Inc., which he formed in 1993. He is a respected thought–leader and an accomplished strategic consultant when it comes to managing business change. He has extensive strategic and tactical experience in a broad spectrum of industries, and his successes span business strategy and architecture, process renewal, knowledge management, and a number of enhanced systems development methods.
He is considered a global industry leader in the introduction of innovative methods for change and is recognized internationally for his pioneering contributions in Relationship Management (1997), Knowledge Management (1996), Business Process Management (1991), Strategic Alignment (1993), Prototyping and Rapid Systems Development (1984), and people-based Project Management Methodologies (1980).
Roger has conceived and chaired several high-profile conferences on advanced business and information management globally, including Knowledge and Process Management Europé 98 and 99, and the Knowledge Management 99 conference series in the United States. He was the chair of the National BPR Conference in the United States and Software World Canada, which was Canada’s largest IT management conference for five years running.
Roger also presents these concepts to managers and professionals in public and private seminars through prestigious seminar houses, such as DCI and IRM UK. To date, he has conducted more than 500 sessions and has presented to more than 15,000 professionals around the world. His sessions have been translated for French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Japanese audiences and are offered by partners in some non-English speaking countries.
Roger has been a frequent contributor to Ed Yourdon’s American Programmer periodical, published by Cutter. He has also published articles in Knowledge Management magazine and the Data-to Knowledge Newsletter.
Roger graduated with a B.A. Sc. in Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto in 1971. He is a certified Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario (1973). He functioned as an Industrial Engineer and Systems Analyst in manufacturing and government organizations before joining the consulting ranks in 1980. In 1986, he founded SRI Strategic Resources, Inc., which was acquired by BC Telephone (a subsidiary of GTE) in 1988. He served as Director of Productivity R & D, Branch Manager, and Director of Advanced Technologies until his departure to set up Process Renewal Group in 1993.
Currently, Roger is developing a new offering that will deal with the convergence of relationship management and knowledge management. In addition, in collaboration with Ptech Inc., he has completed the automation of the process management methods that are be featured in this book. The software product is available now.
