Chapter 10. Onsite Activities, Part 3: The Day-to-Day Consolidation of Data

Daily consolidation activities have three primary objectives:

To summarize the information obtained during data-gathering sessions in a relevant and useful way.
To determine from the summarized data whether practices necessary to satisfy categories in the CMM or CMMI are being adequately implemented. This step assembles the pieces of ratings decisions to be made by the team in the last phase of the assessment process.
To determine whether more data must be collected to facilitate necessary judgments. After it has been determined that obtaining additional information is necessary, additions to the assessment (and consequently last-minute changes to the assessment plan) need to be scheduled.
