Chapter Summary

I present a detailed case study in agile-at-scale adoption. I explore several real-world issues in the deployment and rollout of agile techniques in the context of the global enterprise software delivery organization supporting Danske Bank, and I describe key lessons from these experiences. The case study illustrates several important points:

• The move toward more agile practices is one of many steps in an organization’s transformation and must be blended with other ongoing improvement efforts.

• There is no “on/off” switch for a global enterprise, and any process or practice improvement must adapt and evolve in the context of the organization’s characteristics, heritage, politics, and plans.
