Faced with these challenges, Danske Bank decided to launch a series of strategic programs aimed at making measured improvements in several areas. By focusing on the highest revenue-generating aspects of the business, the primary objective was to achieve a substantial improvement in efficiency in the development effort, with the following goals:

• Provide solutions to the business within short release cycles (less than twelve months but typically achieving releases every three to four months for more agile projects).

• Increase delivery flexibility to change scope as required with minimal impact on schedules and commitments.

• Manage project risks through earlier identification of problems and easier mitigation of risks.
