Chapter 4. Deployment Planning

Chapter 4. Deployment Planning

The deployment of any large application or suite of applications usually requires efforts in two distinct but related domains: the technical planning and the organizational change planning. This chapter covers the major requirements for laying out an approach for both of these domains. Since these two domains must be integrated during the deployment, the initial planning steps generally include both the technical architects and organizational change specialists, along with business representatives and project management.

The overarching approach in the organization domain uses traditional change management along with newer techniques for viral adoption. In other words, each of the workstreams includes preplanned activities that are meant to identify and deliver standard communications and training, as well as planned and unplanned information shared through the informal networks.
