About the Author

Michel Thiry has more than twenty years of experience in construction as an architect and project manager. He has been practicing value management for more than five years and has obtained his certified value specialist certification from SAVE International (formerly Society of American Value Engineers) and recently obtained his certified value manager certification from the Institute of Value Management, United Kingdom. He is a registered project management professional with the Project Management Institute, has been awarded a “gold seal” certificate as project manager in general contracting by the Canadian Construction Association and membership with the Association for Project Management, United Kingdom). He also is a licensed architect in Québec (Canada) and New York (United States) and is a member of the American Institute of Architects.

During his career in Canada, he has been involved as an architect or project manager on such projects as the Montreal Convention Center, the Montreal World Trade Center and Inter-Continental Hotel, and the Quebec City Area and Montreal Casinos. While head of design management at the City of Montréal, he supervised the first value studies conducted on projects for the City. He presently works as a value manager for Bovis Program Management in the United Kingdom, which is part of the worldwide Bovis Group. He has conducted value studies on a wide range of projects including construction, water treatment, pharmaceutical, and transportation. He is currently responsible for developing the value management module for the Bovis Group self development program.
