Now that we’ve learned about PBCOR and its systems, we’re ready to start the project. Our first task is to fill in the company overview section of the SPOC report template, which appears in the next section.
Pipelines Bank Corporation Overview
PBCOR is a national banking organization with operations in approximately half the states in the United States. The company views technology as a key strategic weapon in maintaining its competitiveness. In keeping with this philosophy, PBCOR’s top management has directed the IT organization to do the following:
Enable rapid growth in transaction volume.
Support the rapid introduction of new products and services, which will allow the bank’s marketing team to implement new banking products faster than its competitors.
Our focus is on managing the demand deposit services of PBCOR, which include all products and related services for consumer checking and savings accounts. Related services and systems include the following:
Bank teller system (BTS): Supports all tellers in PBCOR’s brick and mortar retail branches.
Automated teller machines (ATMs): Provides customers with access to account information and funds from branch and public locations.
Online banking system (OBS): Provides customers with Internet access to account services.
Debit card services (DCS): Supports and processes all consumer debit card transactions.
Interbank processing system (IPS): Processes all transactions from correspondent banks.
PBCOR plans to expand dramatically through organic growth and acquisitions over the next five years. The following table shows the detailed metrics of this strategy:
Current and Planned Metrics

We know the current demand deposit systems cannot handle the load of these high growth projections. We intend to use Software Pipelines to address this issue. The following sections of this document will detail the implementation of our project and will be broken down into five sections, one for each step in the Software Pipelines Optimization Cycle.
