Chapter 6. Compete by Doing Everything Y... > Questions to Ask Yourself

Questions to Ask Yourself

Do you know the source of your distinctiveness? What do you do really well? What business processes must you continue to directly control?
If you choose to outsource any part of your work, do you know who will do that work and the business values by which they operate?
Is the work of your company designed to engage both the hearts and minds of your people? Are there ways to get more meaning back into the work of your company—to make that work more than a job?
Do your people ever get to see the end result of what they produce, or meet the customer or end user?
Are you building a company to keep? How are you ensuring its sustainability?
If you believe that your business can prosper from having a strategic partner, do you really know that partner, and does that partner really know your company? Do you understand what each of you can bring to the table and how you will operate going forward?
If finding a strategic partner is just the start of a process to sell out, you might be better off selling your business right now.
