Exporting File Types

Premiere exports various file formats for video, audio, or image sequences. The formats that you can export depend on whether you are using the Macintosh or Windows version of Premiere. The formats that each platform opens and plays, however, depend on your particular system. You can also add formats via plug-in software extensions.

Tip

Formats such as Windows Media and QuickTime are known as media architectures, which include a growing number of individual compression schemes, or codecs. Cinepak, for example, is a codec supported by both QuickTime and Windows Media. For more information about compression and codecs, see Chapter 18.
