Chapter 9. Adding Transitions > Adjusting a Transition’s Duration and Alignment

Adjusting a Transition’s Duration and Alignment

Sometimes, a transition’s initial duration and alignment work perfectly, and you can move on to other edits. But chances are, you’ll want to make small adjustments. You may even need to trim the clips involved in the transition. You can make these adjustments using controls on the Effect Controls panel’s main panel. Or you can make manual adjustments by dragging in either the Timeline panel or the Effect Controls panel’s Timeline view.

To adjust a transition’s duration numerically

  • On the main panel of the Effect Controls panel, do one of the following:

    • Drag the Duration display to change the value (Figure 9.19).

Figure 9.19. You can adjust the transition’s duration by changing the Duration value on the Effect Controls panel’s main panel.

    • Click the Duration display, type a new duration, and press Return/Enter.

The selected transition reflects the duration you specify in the Timeline panel and in the Timeline view of the Effect Controls panel.
