The Battleship Potemkin

Sergei Eisenstein’s 1925 film The Battleship Potemkin (FIGURE 2.1), is a highly effective piece of propaganda that is set amidst the revolts that led to the Russian Revolution, in which the ruling tsars and their police force, the Cossacks, were overthrown, creating a new, idealistic Communist state.
