Working with Audio

The audio in your movie is extremely important. Good sound can make your presentation more effective. Viewers base some of their expectations of what they see from what they hear.

As you are putting your video together, it is important to pay attention to what is happening to the audio. Sometimes when you put two clips together, the audio just does not go together at all. That can make the editing seem both obvious and ugly.

Here are some ideas on how you can tidy up audio as you edit your video. Music is an option, and it is covered in the next section.

Get rid of bad audio. If you have bad audio on a clip, don’t use it. Most video-editing software will allow you to remove the sound from a clip.

Use audio from another clip. Not only can you remove audio from a clip, you can also remove video from a clip and just have the audio. This way you can fix problems from one clip by incorporating audio from another clip. This is also a good reason to sometimes shoot a scene for audio you can use later.
